After a 17 year career with a major airline, I returned to school to finish a degree in art that I had begun years earlier and have had my hands in clay ever since.  I graduated in 2004 from the University of Southern Maine and moved to Denver, Colorado with my family where I continued taking ceramic classes at the Art Student’s League.  In 2007, I established my own home based studio and have begun teaching children’s clay classes after school and at a few select art centers in Colorado.  In 2008, I became a new member of the Colorado Potter’s Guild and am looking forward to a long and rewarding relationship with all my fellow members.

The tactile nature of clay still mesmerizes me to this day and I find inspiration in a variety of sources, from the play of light on the walls in my house on a late summer afternoon to colors that stop me dead in my tracks.  I also receive a great deal of satisfaction when someone chooses one of my items for their personal use.  It creates a connection between the user and creator which is often missing in mass produced items available in stores today.

Cynthia is currently the Colorado Potters Guild web mistress and has been a member since February, 2008.  She can be reached at cynthia@coloradopotters.org or visit her website for more information.
