Having started throwing pots in the inspirational art center of Santa Fe, Mary Lou has continued classes and education in Denver for the following 20 years at Washington Park Community Center, the Jewish Community Center and Emily Griffeth Opportunity School.
Her most influential teachers have been Sally McCamant, Barbara Waggonfeld, Bob Smith and Sandy Simon. Currently Mary Lou draws energy and inspiration from the interaction of the other Guild Members.
“I love the marriage of function and style,” comments Mary Lou, “adding hand-built elements to wheel-thrown forms. I primarily make wheel-thrown items which are occasionally altered, from light and dark stoneware. Currently I am experimenting with textures and new glazes.”
– Mary Lou works at Bookie’s Bookstore selling children’s books – she loves literature for all ages. She enjoys tennis, golf and gardening and spending time with her four children. Mary Lou can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
